Only in AA...

So I just changed jobs (71 days sober) and am no longer able to go to me normal noon meeting at the club I got sober in. I have been so concerned with this change. Starting over, adjusting to a new meeting, not seeing my old friends at my old meeting. Fear, fear, and fear...

I told one of my friends from my noon meeting about this move. He said he would meet my at my new club / meeting for my first meeting.

I came downstairs looking for him today, AND HE WAS THERE WITH 5 OTHER PEOPLE FROM MY NORMAL MEETING. I was speechless. These six people drove 25 miles out of there way to be there for me. Just writing this gets me teary eyed.

I am so grateful to have these (and many more) people in my life. When I stopped drinking 71 days ago I had no friends. Now I have people that will do these type of things for me and it's unreal.

I just thought I'd share this with everyone. I hope you all have a great weekend. I do get to go to my old club tomorrow and can't wait to see everyone!!!!

I remember a few weeks ago you wrote about your concerns and whether or not you should change jobs. Hadn't read your decision. Hope this makes you feel better about your it.

Right on that's totally awesome. This would be the perfect thread for those people that are reluctant to go to their first meeting to read. It's the perfect example of the miracles and wonderful things that happen in AA. If those people that are on the fence about attending their first meeting read this, I hope it would change their opinion and remove their fears of AA.
