5 years in recovery! slipped last week for 7 days!!!!
Hi I m new to this site I have been a member of AA for 5 years in the end it was the only thing that stopped me drinking! However Ive spent the last 18 mths not going to meetings and pretending I was "Normal" Needless to say I picked a drink up last week and the cycle started again exactly where Id left off!!!! spent all of Weds in the house after having emptied the contents of the drinks cupboard in to plastic bags and dumped it at the bottom of the garden sweated it out and didnt drink! went to the meeting at 7:30 that night, Back to a day at a time! just getting through as best I can and living in the day,thanks!!!!

Thank you for your post, and welcome to SR. I do appreciate your story....alcoholism is insidious and stories like yours remind us of that.
The good news is....you've stopped after 7 days! That is AWESOME! I do hope you'll stay at SR and share more of your story!

Had a friend did much the same...he was out there for 6 months but came back in and learned from it, started doing the work again and now is a changed person...this can be a very positive experience and something that can rocket forward your recovery:-)
