hopeful
hello all, day 2 of my sobriety. I spent all of day 1 in bed, filled with shame and guilt. Today is better and I am hopeful that tomorrow will be even better. Im having trouble forgiving myself for the dumb things Ive done and that has me extremely depressed. hopefully it will get easier.
Welcome to the family!
Yes, that depression will lift after some sober time and you'll start feeling more human.
I gave it up for good a year ago and can honestly say my life is better now that it's ever been. I still have the same problems but I deal with them so much better. I changed my attitude and everything else changed too.
I'm glad you've decided to live a sober life. It really does rock!

Hi Harve - hope you start feeling better soon. There's good reason to be hopeful; I wasn't sure I'd be able to stop but this forum has been a huge help and now I can't imagine going back to the drinking life.
Glad you're here!

(((Harve))) - welcome to SR!!
Yes, those feelings do get better, but it takes time. I spent a lot of time, reading here....stories of people who had some recovery time, stories of people still struggling and it gave me a good perspective, as well as hope.
Recovery is work, but it is SO worth it!
Hugs and prayers,
Amy

Good job on posing here - that takes courage.
Keep us updated on your progress. The first few days/weeks/months might be difficult, but oh so worth it once you get on the other side.

Ive posted this and spent all of 10 minutes in the chat room and thats the most Ive every talked about it in my 25 year career as a drinker. It has honestly brought me to tears.
