72 days Panic
72 days Panic
Got 72 days sober. Went to a few SMART meetings first few weeks. Didnt talk much about sober stuff. Just BSed a lot. Things were going good. Days 50ish to 55ish got kinds sketch with cravings. That passed. Now I am having panic attacks when I think about note being able to drink ever. I know one day at a time but ugg its overwhelming.
Breath deep.
Remember how bad it got before you quit.
Realize you'll probably pick up from there and reach a new low fast if you drink again.
Remember all the good that has come to pass since you've quit.
We're all pulling for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whether you're a 'one day at a time' guy or a Forever Man - all any of us can do is focus on today...yesterdays gone and tomorrow's not here yet...
just keep doing what you've been doing...
& tomorrow when you get up?

Dust off that wry sense of humor....I've found
at myself is often a good way to lighten a downer.
You might want to get back to SMART too....check out
their work book on CBT.
Yes! you can continue to win over alcohol...

I suspect that "It's" trying to get you to drink by projecting a bleak future of sobriety stretching out for years and years. Two possible ways to defuse this. One, try to live, as suggested one day at a time. Second, when "It" (really your body trying to influence your mind so as to get the alcohol back in its system, which it was used to for so long), when "It" taps you on the shoulder and makes suggestions along these lines, try telling "It" that, from what you hear at meetings, it's all just the other way around. Continuing sobriety is not painful or unpleasant. It's not a white knuckle situation. Quite the contrary. If you work the program it gets easier and easier, you get happier and happier and eventually you become more dependent on sobriety than on anything else. It becomes your most precious possession. At first the curve upwards seems to be very gradual, then it steepens and becomes almost exponential. Stick with it and see!
