Being sober
is great, 4th Friday night in a row w/o drinking (weekend binger, well now former weekend binger) and have been enjoying, remembering and being completely content and in control of myself. Freedom from fear about what I did the night before is truly amazing. Looking in my wallet and seeing no money gone, checking the CC account and seeing no new charges, actually feeling like having breakfast/lunch on Saturday and Sunday. So many positive changes, no negatives...what the hell was I doing before? It was so much habit that I didn't dare change or challenge anything. Knowing this, what else can I change now?

HidLid, we seem to have a similar drinking pattern.
This is my second completely sober Friday, and thus lovley Saturday morning.
Enjoying my morning coffee, breakfast and especially my children.
This is how i´t supposed to be!

Yes, isn't it wonderful to wake up on a Saturday morning or any other morning feeling great. I, too, often think why I ever drank. Maybe, it is so we can now truly appreciate feeling great and finding all the wonderful things surrounding us that we never stopped to notice or appreciate.
Congrats on your sober time... and if you ever question why you quit, go back to your (this) post, it will help to reaffirm that drinking inflicts pain not joy. Drinking isn't fun, it is habit forming and progressive.
Thanks for your post, it made my morning off to an even better start. I woke up refreshed at 4:30 a.m. curled up with a coffee and reading SR... my lifeline!

Thanks, its actually its been a little over 3 weeks w/o a drink, since I was a weekend drinker I'm counting it in the number of weekends rather than days.

Great post!!
Keep on keeping on!! Remember how great you feel now and 'bank' it into those deep memory banks in your mind. When the tough times come then think back to how great you felt without the posion ruling your mind and life, reach out to others in recovery and make sure you stay sober 'just for today'.
