Call the non-emergency police. Do not open the door. You should actually never answer the door unless you know who it is and you are expecting them. Ever hear of home evasion? Also, even if the cops knock on the door don't open... yell for their id number and call police first to see if they are legit. A lot of scams happen with robbers pretending to be cops and then the innocent victim opens the door and they walk straight in your home. I am a single mom so I don't play games with people knocking on my door. It is your turf; you must use your brain. Good luck
I feel for you BC - it's tough dealing with people like that. You said they were alcoholics and trying to get you to do things you don't want to do. You may have to tell them you're sorry but you can't do those things anymore. You could even say you're getting sober can't have anything to do with the drinking crowd anymore. That might scare them off....... (!?)
I thought it might be that BC.
I had situations like that too with drinking buddies - be firm - tell them you're not drinking and ask them to respect that and not to camp out on yr doorstep.
If they're like my friends, they will lose interest once they see you're committed.
