Awesome!!
Hi all :-)
As a newbie I have spent quite a lot of time finding my way around and checking out quite a few threads on this forum and have to say what a fantastic bunch of folks you all are!! Im amazed and touched by the support, understanding and empathy which is dished out over and over and over again! Truly awesome!
Im only on day 2 of my sobriety adventure, though to be honest, I was definitely a binge drinker rather than a daily drinker, so feel a bit of a fraud saying its my day two as im still very much in my normal 'cycle', in that i would normally have 2 or 3 nights off the drink before hitting it hard again.
However, I have to say that after joining SR I honestly feel really optimistic about making it, with all your support, and if i have a bad day when my nerves are frayed and im anxious and irritable, I know that i can come on her and vent my feelings and not be judged or frowned upon for doing so - what a wonderful environment to recover in :-)
I am reminded over a lovely verse that somebody once wrote me in a card many many years ago (~25yrs) which i think suits perfectly:
'OH! The comfort the inexpressible
comfort of feeling safe with a person
having neither to weigh thoughts
nor measure words but pour them all
right out just as they are, chaff and
grain together, knowing that a faithful
hand will take and sift them, keep
was is worth keeping and then with
the breath of kindness blow the rest away'

Hi Neo
Dont get me wrong...a binge drinker I may be but I am also definitely an alcoholic, and hope to be a recovering alcoholic from here on in!
Alcoholism runs rampant throughout my family...both my immediate and extended family have serious issues with drink, so it has been great to read some of the threads on here about breaking the cycle.
My kids have suffered enough, and I have suffered enough with the burden of guilt at their suffering! Time for it to stop once and for all....in this little family at least :-)
Roll on day 3!

Welcome Crystal!!!!:day6 I agree, this place is pretty special. I've been able to stay sober for (calculating in my head) 37 days now because of this place.
I'm so glad you're here. That poem is one of my very favorites, by the way. Thanks for sharing it!

Welcome ((Crystal))!!
What I love most about SR is it doesn't matter who you are, what you're DOC (drug of choice, and I consider alcohol a drug) is, everyone here "gets" each other and the support is phenomenal...so glad you're here!
Hugs and prayers!
Amy
