Those two have no business sponsoring anyone in AA. Run like hell. The fellowship in AA is something to be survived at times. Then again, we have to take the initiative. Find a sponsor who will sit down with you and a Big Book. Find one that asks questions of you based on your own experience. Find one that will give you directions and expect you to follow them.

I don't know anything about the 'step book' in AA. The Big Book contains the specific, precise directions for taking the Steps. Having a sponsor was a huge benefit to me.
