OT- Cat stew, anyone?
Just kidding, lol. I typed a rather lengthy reply to someone here on SR, and I think it was probably the best reply I've ever written, full of wisdom beyond my years, (lol, oh yea right Dallas), but as I was preparing to send it, Tigger the cat stepped on the mouse, and whoosh, it's gone. There goes my Pulitzer, easy come, easy go, lol.
OK, I've only been here 9 months already and still dont know how to do this, so I'll ask directions, (must be a guy thing) how do you quote someone here in the grey box I see so often?
Thanks for the help.

lol
I hate it what that happens.
The trick to that is - after the long thoughtful brilliant post that will solve the problems of everyone ... LOL
(I do it alla time expecially here at work - I'll get a customer and have to leave it for a bit)
before hitting 'post' ...
select all (then) copy
that way - you've saved it if you've gone over time.
you have to write this on the front of the quote

They explained it in the technical forums very recently, I tried it-the multiquote thing, didn't work. Maybe I just didn't follow the directions carefully enough.
How I do it-there are 'beginning' and 'end' quote tags, you just basically cut and copy those tags around the words you want to quote, the 'beginning' tags have unique identifiers, the 'end' tags are identical in every post.

It's hard to write it to someone here, because it'll make the box. I remember the light bulb moment when I finally figured it out - I treally DO think it was right about 9 months as well! LOL!

Okay....where are the beginning and end quote tags I need to copy?
I asked for help earlier, too. A couple of really nice people tried to help....I was too embarrassed to tell them I still didn't get it....bet they know now!

I recently posted again on the multiquote issue John
[ QUOTE]quote [ /QUOTE]
and it will come out like this.
clear as mud right?
D
- to quote someone - easiest way is go to the post you want to quote and use the quote button then cut out what you don't want from the post
- to manually do it #1 - cut and paste the quote you want into your reply, highlight the text and hit the little speech button icon
- to really manually do it LOL - cut and paste your quote, and like Barb said, type in the tags around both sides (but without any spaces)

Oh people..........select the text you want...........then hit the little thing that looks like a cartoon talking. ............it will say wrap...........I will do my last sentence..........then just post
It is between the # and the thing that looks like a postcard
