14 Days!
Hi everyone. I'm still here
14 days and I feel really good. Here's a weird and vain thing...my hair for some reason has become very soft and silky. It was soooo dry for the past several years.
I also realized the guy I was so upset over is not all I thought he was, so I am doing better about my depression over that.
Planning on seeing a therapist. I realized that I have some underlying issues to work on in regards to growing up a child of an alcoholic. Anxiety issues, self-esteem issues, rejection issues (need i GO ON????).
One day at a time.
Peace to all. Rider

Good job! Keep up the good work.
I am slightly worried about see some of my friends in a new light. Worried I really won't have anything in common with them after all besides partying. I guess if that is the case I shouldn't feel too bad about it but the idea of losing my friends makes me sad too. But, it is likely for the best right.

Thats awesome rider!!! Its funny what a little clarity will do for the ol self esteem. Is he falling at your feet yet? Now that you are loving yourself more maybe hes not so great after all! I am sure you will find out so much about yourself and your life as it all comes to head.
I went to therapy for about 5 months and it did me a world of good. In fact, I did it before I quit drinking. It was because of therapy that I began to look at my life in a different way and wanted to take better care of myself. I am soooo glad I did it and I HIGHLY recomend it. It was hard to work through alot of the emotions (its tough work) but in the end I can see things soo much more clearly and I no longer take responsibility for all the things that happened in my childhood.
I am very happy to hear that you are taking positive steps towards a new you. Keep up the good work!!

Congratulations on 14 days Rider. I think the first month is the hardest so you are more than half way there.
Keep at it. It will only get better.
Although we don't think so at the time alcohol actually robs us of our self esteem along with a lot of other things.

Have you considered that you could also make progress in dealing
with your underlying issues by working thru the Twelve Steps of A.A.?
They could provide you with many solutions that have been elusive
because you became distracted from your primary purpose of life.

That is very true I think. I have definitely gained headway in that aspect. Still there are underlying issues as to why I, and many others, resort to alcohol in the first place, so therapy will be a good exploration.
