i think cutting down didn't work
If you're content to continue the life you're living, by all means do so. It's possible that you don't have a problem. It's possible that your husband is overreacting. It's possible that he may give you permission to go to an AA meeting, yet that's not possible because you're ashamed to show your face. So you're trapped in the cycle of doing nothing that you've created for yourself.
I've seen Anthony Hopkins at AA meetings. I've heard John Larroquette speak at AA meetings. Rep Kennedy (D, RI) regularly attends, as do a host of other well known people my friend CarolID had mentioned. Yet you'd be embarrassed in such an AA meeting? And you also claim that therapists don't work, either? Well, it seems that you've closed the doors to the help that's available.
Someday, when you want to quit more than you want to drink, you'll run out of excuses and do something about your alcohol problem. By rejecting the solutions offered by everyone, this sort of thing has a nasty tendency to get worse rather than better. And if you won't listen to what we have to suggest, then why should we continue to offer suggestions?
