heading back to new york city

Hello All,
I'm a long time lurker- first time poster.
I'm in a recovery center in California and have to return to new york city for a few days. I'm nervous and scared- all my friends back home are still drinking and I know I have to get to some good meetings. I've checked on the nyc-intergroup website but would like to hear some suggestions on good meetings from real people who've actually attend them.

Hi,

I'm not an AA person, but I'm sure you will find lots of good meetings in New York.

Early recovery usually involves making some big changes. I couldn't be around people who were drinking, when I was in early recovery. Good for you for working on your recovery!

Hi Deeper, I'm from New Jersey. At mostly all the meetings I attend, people there always talk about getting sober in NY and how great their meetings are. They still go back to them every once in a while. I have heard only great things about NYC meetings. If I wasn't a chicken sh*t I would even venture out there to go. No kidding. Good luck with your sobriety.

hello deeper,well done on making the descision to change your life! i dont know where the meetings are in nyc but i will be finding out,my partner and i are coming on a trip to the states shortly and we will be in new york 12th till 20th july where we will be attending many meetings!,so i will be intrested to see what people reply to you too! welcome to sr,there is lots of support to be found here!
