Withdrawl Symptoms

I've decided to quit drinking today and hopefully it sticks this time. I'm 38 years old, 5'9", and 130 lbs. I've been drinking since I was 17. Right now I drink everyday. I don't drink beer. I drink either rum and coke or vodka and oj. I go through about half a 5th a day. I wake up in the morning feeling like hell but continue to keep this revolving door going around.

I'm very scared at this point that I may have withdrawl symptoms. I heard in some cases they can be fatal. I have a good job so I cant risk my work going to a rehab for 30 days. I want to be able to quit on my own. I know I can do it. I've gone a couple days without drinking and it doesnt bother me.

Can anyone offer any advice and support ? Thanks.

Hi,

You need to talk to your dr before you stop drinking. Detoxing from alcohol can be very dangerous.

I wish you well and I am glad that you are choosing to live a sober life.

Definitely talk to your doctor, detoxing isn't 30 days.. but you absolutely need medical advice, you're right.. it can be fatal.

Welcome....

You are confusing a treatment center stay
with the initial de tox time of 3-4 days.
Mine took 3 days.

Yes...de toxing is a medical issue It's unpredictable
each time ...as there are so many variables.

Here is a link for you to check out

Please call your doctor and be honest about your drinking.
Be both safe and sober....
