It's been 6 days...

It's been 6 days since I've had my last drink and its harder than I thouught it would be. It liteally feels as thought a part of me is missing. I've been trying to take my mind off of alcohol by occupying my mind with other activities(watching sports, playing videogames) only to realize that I use to partake in these activities under the influence. I have a lot of work to do.

Hi Cowboy, welcome to the family. What you're feeling is completely normal. You really are learning to live in a whole different way. I was in a fog for the first few weeks, just going through the motions. In my early drinking days I thought it enhanced everything I did, but in the end it was just making me numb and unable to react normally. I remember thinking nothing would ever be fun again. That's a lie. It takes time to heal, and at 6 days you are doing great to be reaching out like this. We'd like to hear more of your story when you're ready.

Welcome Cowboy! It DOES get better, I promise. Hang in there and don't drink, no matter what.

Six days is more than I was able to put together on my own. Keep at it. I know what you mean when you say a part of you is missing. Until I found something that was more meaningful than alcohol, not drinking didn't seem like all it was cracked up to be. Do you have other people in recovery you can be with?

congrats on 6 days!! I know what your saying,it does feel like a part of you has been taken away. Beleive when people say that it will get better. It isn't a smooth ride but day by day it gets better each time.
