Confused why do I feel so down?

Hi SR family

Im nearing the end of day 3 of not drinking and starting to feel really down and sad, I feel like I want to cry its that bad, Im not going to but I cant explain why I feel this way. Ive kept myself busy all day, Ive been out for a walk, been for a drive and done some office work from home, have I done to much or over done it?

Confused!!!!!

Its like my brains in a vice and its getting tighter, is this nornal, should I be worried?

You are still de toxing Fletch....
Please be gentle with yourself....
eat a healthy meal...watch TV or read....rest
Asprin for your head...Water is always good.

Each day you will improve ...as long as you don't drink again.

Yup Fletch, what Carol said. You are still getting the toxins out of your system. Drink LOADS of water, take a multivitamin and be VERY kind to yourself for the next month. Get plenty of rest, food, quiet time, etc.

I've also read there a process like grieving when we quit. We miss our buddy alcohol, or our old life and it makes us sad. What ever the reason, I cried the first 2 weeks, but after 3 months I am really happy with the decision to quit.

Yes, Fletch, it's a process that your body is going through, as well as your mind and spirit. Detoxing is an emotional rollercoaster. Just stay strong and you'll get through it.

It's much better to cry all day than to be puking your guts out from having too much booze.

As they say, this will pass. Hang tough.

I agree.Your still coming off the stuff. Your not going to be all better over night.
If you feel like crying. Cry. It may make you feel better. I know it does me sometimes.
It wont be like this forever.
Just hang in there.
I usually snap out of the funk and depression after a week or two.
Stay close and read and post.

I have also felt that it was like losing a friend, a really rotten 'friend' but a friend none the less. When I quit smoking I cried for days as well. My solution is chocolate, M&Ms can make me feel better just about any time, try it.

Oh, and good for you on day 3!
