Hey everyone- not sure of my status

This forum has been excellent for me. I dont know what to do next. Have been drinking less, and my family relationships are much better than a year ago. But not having a job and being idle is so freaking psychotic for me. I can get a job- and have good credentials - and sure something will happen positively. However I have this monkey on my back (cliche) that I cant shake off. Anyway- you guys are awesome- and it inspires and educates me to come here. Have a great day.

dedubya,

I hope you're doing well. Have you checked out any recovery program? Most of us need to have a plan, I know I did. I used AA for a long time and then Rational Recovery. Now I use a mix of things. The primary thing being no alcohol. Not an option for me.

Take care! Love from Lenina

(btw, "The Big Lebowski" is one of my favorite movies)

Hey Lenina-
I havent done much of anything lately except look at negative things (maybe I should be more positive)....thanks for your love. You have always been really cool. I am thinking deeply and trying to fix this.
We will see-

I know for me that too much thinking in my own head and trying to fix things myself didn't work.

Glad to see you posting! :ghug

Hang in there.
Just keep doing whatever your doing to move in the right direction.
Maybe find a program of some sort.
I know when I dont have a job. It gives me too much time to get in my own head.
It will get better.

It takes time Dedubya, but focusing on the positive will always help.

I'm glad that things are going better for you.

dub,

Here's something that helps me a lot. Make a gratitude list. 10 things you have to be grateful for. Keep it in the positive. Do it every day.

In the begining, my list was so hard to make, it seemed. But then I would spend the day really focusing on what I had instead of what I didn't have. I had to change my mind-set. Being positive is like a muscle that needs to be exercised.

Today, I am in the habit of being positive. It really is so simple and it helps me a lot.

Post your list here or keep it in a journal where you can look at it every day. You'll start to see the changes.

And we are always here for you. I know you can do this.

Much love,

Lenina

dedubya, thanks for sharing this. I too have been stuck in my own head this week. I know trying to fix it within my own head probably won't work for me, personally. Letting go of what I can't control has worked the best for me.

Try some meditation. Enjoy your fish.

Btw, Lebowski is one of my favorite movies.

Peace to you.
