Day 8 and it was a tough one.

Today kinda sucked. I woke up in a bad mood, had a underlying headache most of the day, and thought about drinking when about 1PM rolled around. I of course didnt drink today but I told my wife what was going on and she said she knew something was wrong. The body is kinda of crazy with what it will put you through to convince you to drink, but today I stood strong. I won this battle, and I will win the war.

Hi C23, thanks for your share. I'm 27 days in and am having some tough days. The next morning, though, I'm always relieved I didn't drink. I'm noticing that the depth of my commitment is different this time. Before, I'd challenge myself to go places folks were drinking and criticize myself if I felt tempted or of course gave in and picked up. Now, I'm willing to do whatever it takes.

great job...I'm starting to become more open to the difficult moments...almost embracing them as much as the "feel good" moments. But when extremely difficult moments come I tend to fight them still.

I will continue to practice surrender when I can.

and acceptance

The inner battle with ourselves is soooo hard. Each craving passed is another step closer to freedom.

Take care,

Way to go C.
This time is your time.
I woke up today in a bad mood so I will have to be vigilant too.
If you can do it so can I. You have inspired me today. Thanks.

One of the very reasons I feel AA worked so well for me, I did not understand, nor did I gain hope from someone picking up a 30 year chip, but in early sobriety I did gain hope from some one picking up a 30 or 60 day chip, I knew I could do that if they could. Today I do understand how some one gets 20 or 30 years sober..... the same darn way I stay sober today..... one day at a time! Of course taking the steps have made one day at a time much easier.

Way to go C23 and thanks for sharing this with all of us.. There is some power in this group and seems we all have our ups and downs at different times and just reading your post to day was a big reminder of the really tough times and a reminder of how hard it can be when it hits.

Your overcoming the urge is very inspiring.. All of us get stronger when one of us gets stronger - THANKS!

Good job on resisting the urge to drink...As more sober days continue, the easier it gets to resist those nagging temptations.

You can do this...:ghug
