Hi Im Sharon and Im an Alcoholic.
By the grace of my HP and the
fellowship of SR I havent found
it necessary to pick up a drink
of alcohol since 8-11-90.
For that and u I am truely
grateful.

What does this word mean
to you?
How about selfishness in other
words self-centeredness. Self-
obsorbed. Into self.
That, we think, is the root of
our troubles. Driven by a hundred
forms of fear, self-delusion, self-
seeking, and self-pity, we step on
the toes of our fellows and they
retaliate. Fight back.
Sometimes they hurt us, seemingly
without reason , but we invariably
find that at some time in the past
we have made decisions based on
self which later placed us in a position
to be hurt.
Never become so heavenly that
you're no earthly good.
Placing yourself so high on a
pedalstol that u seem to be
so much better than anyone
else. Like you can do no
wrong. We're only human to
make mistakes and we to
can fall flat on our faces.

To carry on with what gerryP stgarted, I see pride more as a positive, like.....:
1) a reasonable or justifiable sense of oneʼs worth;
2) self-esteem;
3) self-regard;
4) self-respect;
5) confidence;
6) self-assurance;
7) self-confidence;
8) dignity;
9) face;
10) honor; and
11) prestige.

I believe in these definitions of the word:
a high or inordinate opinion of one's own dignity, importance, merit, or superiority, whether as cherished in the mind or as displayed in bearing, conduct, etc.
a becoming or dignified sense of what is due to oneself or one's position or character; self-respect; self-esteem.

Thanks for the post, Sharon... we don't see eye to eye on your last post but perhaps we do see eye to eye on this one.
For me, pride has meant:
Hiding my failures from those closest to me.
Not letting those close to me know I'm not ok.
