No wine near the fishtank
No wine near the fishtank
Hi all
7.30am UK Day 5 - I thought I would share a conversation I had last night with my 13 yr old daughter
Me: I feel like some wine (thinking out loud)
Daughter: Oh no have a cup of tea instead
Me: Why, I didnt realise you didnt like me drinking wine, your quite young
Daughter: Yes, I hate it, you change.
Me: Have you noticed I have not been drinking wine?
Daughter: Of course, every night I look over to where you sit near the fish tank and I think -'Yeah' - no wine there tonight.
Thank you all so much for support helping me to get here. x x

HI Iriss,These kind of stories really tug on my heart strings. When my son was 10 he used to get out of bed & pass through our living room a couple of times a night to go to the toilet. I would be "relaxing" with my bottle of red. I thought he had kidney trouble or something & was considering the doctor. When I stopped drinking the toilet runs stopped. He has been checking me all the time. He also said i changed when I drink wine I found some of the damage i was doing when I drank could also be very sutble like that. It was like throwing a stone in the water...the ripple effect of my drinking. The good news for me is the ripple effect of my recovery is also as noticable and he is a very healthy young man today in college and happy. He stopped checking me a long time ago and oven comes to me for advise on different things in his own life. We are very close.
These are the things to remember when we're brought again to our knees by that alcoholic voice. Glad you had this conversation with her.. it will mean more than anything that you always remember it.
