Is it just my mind

Okay I will make this short and sweet! First I am a new comer to this forum. Been clean since Sept 2006. I was hooked on well you name it.

up to 20 percocet a day along with Actiq and morphine you name it I was on it. I got addicted mainly because of horrible migraines.

Anyway I took up bodybuilding in Nov of 2006 and it changed my life. I got hooked, addicted you name it but it is my new addiction!

I went over a year and a half with no migraines then in Oct of last year they came back with a vengeance! I finally ended up with a script of percocet and yes my doctor knows my background anyway here is the messed up part.

I can't seem to go more than two days without one. Hell all I need is to take a percocet 5mg and I am fine. I really think I am more fearful of withdrawals again and my mind is making them up?

When I went to rehab I had been using for 6 years. Lets see I have been using Percocet on and off since Oct of last year and have gone thru one bottle of 45 10's and half way thru a bottle of 60. So I really haven't taken that many so do you all think its just the fear of withdrawals calling me? I know I am going to have a little discomfort but I just need to buck up and try to go a good two weeks without it and really taper back.

Support advice...yes I have thought of flushing them down the toilet but They have saved my butt a few times with the migraines. So hell I am in a mess!!! I had been clean over 2 years and I refuse to give my life over to these damn drugs again!!!

Anyway my goal now is to take a 10mg in the morning before work. I figure if I can go thru the weekend by Monday morning it will be 72 hours and the worst of the withdrawals will be over...mainly I just want to not deal with them at work. Any Ideas for over the counter stuff to help ease the withdrawals! I do **** loads of cardio so that may help!

Anyway Hi everyone and god bless!!!

Hello, Darylord. Welcome to SR!

I don't know anything about pills and we're not supposed to give medical advice, but you might also post in the Substance Abuse forum. Please go to your doctor and tell him/her what you plan to do.

Being a "Migraine" sufferer for most of my life, I would STRONGLY SUGGEST you get yourself to a Neurologist.

I have never heard of percocet helping a Migraine, so either you are having something other than a migraine or a Doctor who does not understand Migraines.

Get to a Neurologist and find out what those 'headaces' really are. Then an appropriate medication can be prescribed. Now there are several good medications out there for Migraines and not all work on everybody the same so there again it will be some 'trial and error' between you and your Neurologist.

Please see a qualified Neurologist as soon as possible.

Love and hugs,

Yes, do get to a neurologist ASAP. There are far better drugs for migraines out there. I was getting migraines in my 40's and was given a nasal spray that worked wonders.

Take care of yourself!

Love,

Lenina

Hi and Welcome,

I am also a lifelong migraine sufferer.

I have found that paying attention to the early warning signals help me a lot. If I listen to my body's signals, I can react quickly. I see lights in front of my eyes, I get a vague nausea before the migraine starts. I can take Advil and it helps to control the situation, so I don't have to take anything stronger. That's my experience. But, obviously, as others have said, talking to your dr is the best thing to do.

Hey

Yep - see a physician...

Some things to think about... Opiates may help a migraine for a while, but when they wear off the can trigger rebound headaches.

Like Lenina and Laurie said, there are some really good migraine meds that are non-addicting. I get migraines too and these migraine specific meds work pretty good!

See a headache specialist - usually a neurologist. There are other important things to look at to prevent and treat migraines.

Hi Darylord,

I am interested in how you got obsessed with the bodybuilding. I really want to substitute the drinking for the exercise and have done so to an extent. But would like to pursue it more. What did you do to get going?

As far as the drugs go, you just gotta stop. Don't let it overtake you. I take ambien to sleep but only take it when I think I need it. I took it for 5 days in a row once and then stopped and the next day was horrible. I didn't know you can have withdrawals so soon. Now I only take it occasionally cuz I am too scared to have that experience again.

I would guess eat well, drink lots of water and take vitamins.

Well thanks everyone for the great advice. My supervisor at work gave me the name of her doctor, I guess he spealizes in migraines!

Yes right now I am struggling a bit! But I will get this behind me!

Eclipse when I Get 5 posts I will Private Email you about my exercise. It really has helped me stay clean! I have a website but I would rather not post it publically but will send it to you after I got 5 posts.

I started out on the body for life program. Towards the back of the book one of the success stories was an alcoholic...I thought hell if he could do it so can I!

But ya I need to get off of these I can't go back to where I was!!!
