Prayers & Positive Thoughts PLEASE!

Hi Suze (and everyone) - Thanks for caring! We are hanging in there. We got an order of protection for our niece against my brother to keep him away from her and off of our property until he does whatever he is going to do next - which is die or stop drinking. (He is still drinking - even a few hours away from it and he goes into serious withdrawals.)
I am angry and upset at him for wasting his life, which is ironic since I was doing the exact same thing until a little over a year ago, but I feel like we are doing everything we can to protect my niece, who is only 12, and that at least is giving us some sense of peace.
She has lived through and seen things no 12 year old should have to, and being able to put her to bed in a quiet, peaceful house, and watching her respond to the love that has been lavished on her by our church and school family, and seeing her face light up when my husband walks in the door (FINALLY a man she can trust!) is very uplifting.
Thanks again for asking...it helps so much to share stuff here. Just to get it out in the open makes it less threatening.

Thanks everyone. No improvements with my brother, but at least the rest of us can sleep a little easier concerning my niece. Please keep the prayers and good thoughts coming. I really think my brother can save himself if he decides to surrender in time.
