Thumbs up Be strong over Christmas!

There will be loads of temptations over the holidays to drink or use, so for those of you - myself included - who have some time of sobriety, please hang on to what you have achieved and how far you've come so far!

It takes a lot of courage not to give into temptation, by resisting temptation you will gain power and experience over your addiction!

I plan on having a good time at Christmas without booze, and that's something I never thought was possible. Christmas was the one time of year when it was always appropriate to drink all day long, for days up till New Years and beyond.

But not for me. I can't help it that people around me will be drinking, but I can help it that I won't be!

So bless you all and I hope everybody uses the most powerful weapon of all to be safe over Christmas - the word no!!!

If your gonna go..Why not go big! LMAO!

This will be my first Christmas and New Year clean.

And I have already taken all the Necessary steps to ensure it stays that way.

I will have a family member glued to my side most of the time.

Especially since I have a couple Dr appts in that city I get high in.

I have it all planned.

Thx RK...Stay strong all...We all deserve a wonderful sober holiday. And everytime there after.

Christmas can be difficult for a newcomer...........and uncomfortable
I remember thinking that everyone here smells of booze.
And everyone is having fun.
BUT i gotta remember that i dont drink like "normal" people.
When these relatives had there drink for christmas they got up the next day and got on with life.
Id carry on drinking for at least a week.
These relatives would have one drink.......i dont think i ever had one drink.
It doesnt worry me anymore one way or the other.
Because i have fully excepted that ME and booze spells misery for me and others.
My drinking has nothing to do with fun....or pleasure.
Its not all bad though........unlike some illnesses....i do get a daily reprieve and can have a "normal" life
Best wishes to you guys for 2009 and god bless you.

At my local AA, we are having 24 hours meetings from December 24 through December 28. I decided to lead two of the meetings even my sober time is not considered to be significant. If I was a newcomer, I would call my local GSR to find out where the marathon meetings are in your location
