Looking for help
Looking for help
Hello. I have been here before. I want to make another go at changing my life. What I would love is a female to talk to (email) and listen. I have a good ear aswell. Wanting a woman for help is not insinuating anything....I really value a woman's opion and I also have a co-dependency problem.
So, if you are female and have some time and wisdom, than I would love to hear from you. I am a 45 year old professional man with a pain killer problem.
i hope to hear from you soon.

Hi
It's not true that we are alone in this. I've found so many caring people on this site it's unbelievable. Both men and women have replied with a great amount of support. Why don't you give it a try you've got nothing to lose.
I'll listen

Eagle1,
I am sorry that you are in pain and am glad that you are reaching out for help.
I didn't respond immediately because you were very specific about what type of repsonse you wanted. So...if not female, if not willing to jump into emailing you...well...
Please share what is going on with you and I am sure that there will be many from SR...male and female who will be able to respond to your posts.
So tell us a bit about you...are you struggling to find sobriety? are you sober and having a rough time? We have all been there.
I saw you have been at SR since sometime in 2006...so you probably know how this works a little.
The power of SR is in the WE :ghug3

I have been here on and off since 2004.....
I fully understand each and everyone's response or lack of. I was desperate last night and needed to talk. It was more self pity when saying "forget it". In the real world, even nice people don't jump threw hoops. So, let me go on record as saying sorry about the immature attitude.
It has been a long haul and I am tired. Tired of promises made to myself and so tired of using. I am so stranger to trying to quit and this site. I am a loner so it really takes alot for me to really reach out..hence almost 6 years on SR and only 30 posts.lol
One of my BIG things is that I have told NO ONE about my addiction. Not my wife (now ex) not my new girlfriend, no one. It is a self burdened cross I carry.
So, I will be attempting to kick again. I will be around. I will try to keep those who check posted. The urgency last night was that I had some other thoughts...I did try to OD somewhat.....lucky I fell asleep before I did any real damage to myself or really was a real a--hole to anyone on SR.
Thanks

I'm sorry things got so bad last night eagle.....
you might consider telling some people around you about your disease....I was suprised that so many around me were actually so happy to hear that that was the problem...it was a relief for them to finally know what was wrong.
actually posting more can be very helpful to me at times....gives me a chance to feel some connections with others battling the same ilness.
I hope after your expereince of last night you will also seek some professional help. Myself, I found my doctors to be a big help as I sought recovery...they couldn't stop me from drinking but they helped keep me alive long enough to get on track with sobriety and then helped with putting my health back together.
Keep posting and don't sweat it on the posting (we are mostly a forgiving lot here) 8

I understand all too well the 'all alone' feeling. I also suggest counseling as a great way to let off stress, anxiety, and all sorts of other emotional baggage. I see a counselor once a week and she just happens to be a specialist in addictions. So I can get emotional release and good feedback on mental health and/or alcoholism problems.
I wish I knew more to say. I've never had any problems with meds, only alcohol, tho I know how hard it is beating any addiction. The substance doesn't want to let us go and puts up a big fight. I often felt like a nasty old chewed up bone being fought over.
Please come back often and keep us posted as to your progress or problems. I go to my home group AA meeting once a week, but would be lost without SR.

Hi and welcome to SR. I am an alcoholic, but I know how the pain can get so bad that you want to die. There is hope and you have a chance at life. You acknowledged that drugging is not what you want, that is the start.
I am not sure why you are interested in only a womans thoughts as I have found caring and wisdom from both men and women here and at my AA groups.
We are here for you, so keep posting and try going into the chat room at night, alot of us go there when we can, usually gets busy..lot of support there..
Keep positive and keep coming back..
