My drinking pattern is constant, when I wake up, at lunch breaks, when I get home... and repeat. I dont know what can take my mind off booze. I need to be on some heavy meds to start cuz I'm sweating really bad and shaking

It's always wise to see a doctor before trying to de tox.
You can also go to an ER or call 911 for assistance.
Be both safe and sober...de toxing is a medical situation.

Welcome to a loving supportive place! Do be safe while detoxing. Call a doctor or go to the ER for a bit of medical intervention to keep you at ease while withdrawing from alcohol.
I know staying sober can be done cause I did it/am doing it every day. I was a chronic relapser but finally managed to quit for good and have been building my sober days one day at a time.
It might help to stay sober by making a list of all the things you hate about drinking, all the negatives, to read over when you have the urge to drink.
Welcome again! Glad you found us!:ghug3

I read the link carol. I need to be in a hospital, but I'm scared of losing my job, I might have to continue drinking to not die. I just hate the fact that I brush my teeth, chew gum etc at work and people at work still say I wreak, I dont get it.

I used to take 3 showers before work
and yet I did smell ...
Why? when you drink x aammount
and this x varies from person to person...
your body cannot process alcohol correctly.
It then trying to rid it's self of toxins by using the skin/pores.
Alcohol is a toxin. AAlso a depressant.
No one has to die from alcoholism at this point.
Getting sober is the way to start being healthy.
Yes! you too can recover...

Imtrying - some people in your situation wouldn't even reach out for help or see that they had a problem. At least you've found us, and we can help. I was drinking round the clock too, in the end. At work I was very resentful that people started making comments. After all, I was armed with mouthwash & mints, eyedrops, saturated in perfume - how could they know? As said before, it comes through your pores. When I switched to vodka I thought that would help, but it didn't. If you drink enough of it there's no escaping the odor. Maybe that's good, though - maybe the fear and humiliation of being caught & the embarassment of being confronted with it is one of the things we both needed to help us see reality. (My 3 DUI's helped too...)
As miserable as I know you feel right now, this is where it can end. Fight for your life - everything can be turned around. I drank heavily for over 25 yrs. and I'm here to tell you it can be done. Love, Joanie

Imtrying, any doctor can give you a prescription for some benzo's to help ease you through withdrawal. You can even try calling your doctor and explaining the situation and see if he'll phone in a prescription. Doctors deal with this kind of thing all the time, asking for help is nothing to be ashamed of.
The worst of the withdrawal will be over in 3 to 5 days but the PAWS symptoms can linger for months. The most common are anxiety, depression and insomnia.

I feel you, I'mtrying!
I'm a severe drunk too and was at the lowest point I'd ever been at just about 3 weeks ago! Detoxing was hell and all the emotions with it!... but life has gotten better, really! You haven't lost everything, YET! You still have your life and you are reaching out here to us -- that's a start. The next few days will be hell -- everything so fresh in your mind and it may be utter turmoil and hell at times!!!! There's no easy way to go through this. Just want a better life more than how you've been living it cuz it's waiting for you! You just gotta hang on minute by minute right now. If detoxing on your own is not working, call your Dr. or get into a clinic or something. There's meds out there to help with the shakes and anxiety that aren't narcotic.
Keep us posted. You are welcome here anytime!!! Look forward to reading more of your posts!!!
