give yourself a WOOHOO

I just wanted to take a minute to give myself and everyone out there a pat on the back for remaining sober on thanksgiving. Being my first Thanksgiving were I actually enjoyed the food instead of being consumed with drinking I think we should all take time to recognize our strength. So let me from all you sober turkey heads out there...WAY TO GO

yup

The first half of the day sucked, but I understood why.
After I got past that it was alright.
I just kept telling myself, I've made it this far.

I'll take a woohoo and right back at ya! It was the worst day since I had quit drinking by far. But I had to deal with some feelings and that is part of recovery. 41 days today.

Thank you, Soarin - we are great, aren't we? I agree, the first part of the day was strange - felt like an alien, but then I started to appreciate the fact that I wouldn't have to worry about what I said or did the next day. No Black Friday hangover, either. It's hard to learn to celebrate in a new and different way, but we can do it.
