Is addiction just about drugs?
Is addiction just about drugs?
My sponsor says addition is more about blind-spots than about drugs & alcohol.
If we did not have blind-spots we would stop when the "sh.. hit the fan".
Addicts are those who think the "sh.." won't fly back in their face.

NA basic text step 1 --- i never want to forget to stay away from the first one, so it is always about not using, but the problem goes deeper for me. i think it all started with self hatred and me wanting to run away from what i was feeling about myself.
Our inability to control our usage of drugs is a symptom of the disease of addiction. We are powerless not only over drugs, but our addiction as well. We need to admit this in order to recover. Addiction is a physical, mental and spiritual disease, affecting every area of our lives.
My addiction to alcohol was as much about a mental addiction as it was physically. My thinking was negative and hopeless and circular. When I was finally able to change the way I think I was also able to stop drinking.
