Show up on time, look the judge in the eye, be humble, and honest.
And with regards to your husband, try not to be too hard on him right now - it's a huge adjustment when a spouse gets sober. Keep the focus on you, and your recovery.
Let us know how it goes. I'll keep you in my thoughts tomorrow.

You know, it's fine to ask the judge to recommend in-patient. Tell him you've been sober, bring a sponsor from AA, and tell him you really want more help. I think he/she would prolly give it to you most places.

I took a little time and thought about my answer to this before posting. I don't want to come off harsh or anything, but I think there's something that needs saying, hon.
Please try to take it in the spirit offered.
First -
having worked in a law firm for a few years,
to say nothing of having been married to a couple criminals....
I hate to see anyone go to court unrepresented for anything above traffic court.
*You have a right to an attorney*
is not just a line from tv.
It's real.
And it's not a privilidge
it's a right.
Second,
and what disturbed me more ...
um...
I don't know a 'delicate' way to put this but -
for *my* husband to have have a meeting
more important than helping me through a tough time...
and not stand by me when I'm going to court ....
honey, I'm a southern woman
and there's just one way I can put this.
it had better be a meeting
with no less than
The Lord Jesus Christ.
Himself.
And I MEAN no one less.
Not Moses.
Not Elijah.
Not even Mick Jagger.
And he'd better bring me an autographed picture to prove it.
Im sorry but you can still call the court and ask about getting an attoney. There's no reason in the world for you to have to do this with no one.
Honesty fine and great and all that but we're talking COURT and the two rarely meet..

Ha, ever been to twin towers Los angeles C.A ? I have , no fun Just tell the judge you have a drinking problem and you realize you need help, more than likley you will get some classes or something similar other than jail being your first time, just my experience.
Take care,
John

That's not "Just all". I hope you care enough to pour your heart into continuing to work on the problem that got you there. Next time could be worse...if there is a next time.
I was in rehab with a woman who killed a man while driving drunk. Her life will never be the same. And his life...is over.
I don't mean to be overly dramatic, but just eye-opening...
And congratulations on making it for over a month! Here's to the rest of your life!

Im glad you are feeling better about the situation. Im not trying to be negaive, just realistic. Its not as easy as just jumping through the hoops, This program is going to expect that you stay clean. No room for error, no im sorry I slipped. One mess up and the charges will stick. I hope you are very serious about staying clean because all these types of programs are strict.
I was in one. went almost 1 year without any problems. One or 2 positives and I was in and out of court and the charge now sticks. i wish you the best of luck, and be careful!!!!

I just read my reply, and wish I could edit it. I sound so harsh. But that is not how I sound in person. I actually sound very nice and young in person. But when my words are printed...it comes out harsher for some reason.
Anyway I hope you understand. I'm just trying to help you stay on the right track, and never have to go back to court again. Nor have to deal with the pain of addiction/alcoholism.
Peace to you.
