Point is, I'm 54 days sober, and though I'm not clearer mentally or happy much... the fact is it IS POSSIBLE... I'm not the best example really, I'm not a great person, but realize and remember when you pick up that drink... it's only going to make it worse... one day at a time indeed... only one day worse at a time if you keep drinking at that pace.
In spite of the times I've watched you fall since 2007, (and yes there were times when I lost some patience with you) I knew that many of us prayed for you, and we thought that eventually you'd "get it". It breaks our hearts too to see people suffering when we believe there's an easier way.
What you use to achieve recovery doesn't matter, as long as you find peace and happiness someday. I hope there comes a day when you can change your avatar to a smiley face. I know you've got it in you. God wouldn't drop you on your head after bringing you this far.

Congratulations Paulos. That was a really inspiring post. I know for me, SR is a great place for me to feel welcome and supported, but also to be able to read stories such as yours which propel me forward when the going gets tough, so thank you!
You said: "something sort of woke up in my mind and made me figure out... it was time to stop."
That was exactly how it felt to me when I finally surrendered. Exactly. Thanks for putting it into words.
And I appreciate your generosity of spirit in sharing this with us. Thank you.
Congratulations on your sober time. Wonderful. You are an inspiration!

thank you
I am new here. My bf and I have successfully stopped taking oxy. We used suboxone to help with the withdrawal. Now we are coming off the Suboxone and are really having a hard time. Also we have been taking adderall on and off to help with our extreme fatigue. Anyways, the point is, we know how you feel about everyone getting impatient or upset. It is so hard and you have given me hope. So, thank you.
Hi Paulos, frankly the 'just go to AA' people can annoy me too, it worked for them so it is understandable that they assume it will work for everyone. I go to AA meetings for the company, it helps me.
A lot of people never got tired of you though Paulos.
Anyway, well done!
