First AA meeting -

After years of saying: Oh, I don't want to go there, all the religion, etc., (which in alcoholic double-speak means: I want to keep on drinking), I just got back from my first meeting ever.
I thought it was a good meeting, I liked the way it was well organized and I will definitely go back to this group. I am also going to a 12 step study group tomorrow.

Also started an outpatient alcohol abuse program today and got my blood work done.
I feel great. Emotionally strong. I haven't had any cravings since I quit...but, I know that they will come. I don't know when, or why. But, most likely at a weak moment when I am under stress. So I need to learn some ways to cope, so I can be prepared for their re-appearance.

I am also going to start with a private therapist. Not related to alcohol, but I'm sure some of my other issues will certainly overlap with alcoholism.

It was all of you folks at SR that told me over and over again I need to start AA and make a plan. Plan started. Thanks guys...

....littlefish, in the shop for a complete overhaul

Music to my ears! AA will you show you a new way of living and give you the tools to cope with life. I'm proud of you for having this plan.

Keep your mind open, the rest will follow!

I'm glad you're moving forward with your recovery, Littlefish!

I, too, had lots of issues to work on when I stopped drinking and I do believe my alcoholism was a symptom.

Good for you!! Whatever it takes to stay sober. I'm working on my plan too. It's good to know that none of us has to walk this road alone.

Littlefish,
So proud of you taking charge of your recovery, diving in with both feet.
