Talking Introducing - ME!

Hi all, I'm new to this site and as everytime I post it seems to boot me off - I won't type my entire story right now, as it has taken me forever 3 times now and then it won't post. LOL.

So for now, suffice to say I am an alcoholic. I am desperate to enter recovery, and have a treatment plan in place which is fairly detailed. I have awesome support and assistance and my home is fill with love. There is no reason for me to continue in my own self destruction - and have come here for further support from people who understand the temptations, issues and and difficulties in recovery. I'll share further along the way no doubt, but as I say - right now wanted to just say How ya all doing! Gidday, nice to meetcha!

Ahhhhh, thats what changed it! I did that this time I logged on, I'd say my wireless networking router kept dropping the connection and it logged me off everytime!

Thanks for the welcome everyone, if you're interested there is a bit more of my story in the Christians in recovery forum, and now I know what Im doing with the posting thing, I can add in a few more details of what my treatment plan is.

Because of the level of excess alcohol I consume, on medical advice, I am not intially going cold turkey. For the next two weeks I have to substantially but gradually reduce the amount I drink, and then my stop date is Thursday 22 May. I then have to suffer through the first week, then begin antabuse the week following. My Dr and church have been fantastic, as have some wonderful help services we have here. I will be seeing a drug an alcohol counsellor weekly, going to a minimum of 1 AA meeting a week, with strict accountability to my Pastor and his wife, if for any reason I have to miss a meeting or appointment then I have to tell them. I also have to keep a "drink diary during the next two weeks - identifying quantity, times and triggers. My Dr wants to do blood tests fortnightly for the first month, then monthly for awhile. All this is to avoid me having to go into a residental facility for rehab. Scary times darls, scary times!

By the way - Im generally considered a pretty fun, laid back type of person, and Im a married SAHM of three kids.

Anywhose, I used to parenting forums like these - and I throw myself in fully from the start, I hope to build up a wonderful group of friends here!

Sounds like you do have several support systems in place.

I would like to offer a suggestion if I may. I'm a recovering alcoholic/addict with going on three years clean and sober. If you plan on incorporating AA into your Program, like I did from day one, I'd suggest going to as many meetings as possible. As you said in your introduction post, you want as many people who understand as possible in your corner and AA is the place for that. SR is a wonderful addition to any Program of Recovery but I hope you will consider as many meetings as possible too!

You sound determined and that's awesome!

God Bless,
Judy
