Got any gratitude for SR?
Today's AA Thought For The Day, courtesy of AAOnline.net. Just wanted to share......

Modem-to-Modem
Twice this week, I've had tormented thoughts at three A.M.
Do I have to phone and wake someone up for support?
No, because other sober insomniacs are online,
ready to help me through the night. I didn't want a drink,
I just needed the loving support of the Fellowship.
Knowing I can talk and apply the Steps to my chaotic thoughts
and feelings at three A.M. makes a world of difference to me.
As to whether online meetings violate Traditions, I say, "Bah, humbug!"
I can't go to a meeting in Pakistan today -- does that make it not a real meeting?
Online meetings are like any other -- if you get there, you are welcome there.

Modem-to-modem or face-to-face, AA's speak the language of the heart.

It's a source of comfort and support for me to know that I have a safe place to go, whether it be to count my days, or whine, or ask for support/advice. I'm sure glad SR is here for us all day and all nite. We never close!:ghug3
There are several GOOD recovery sites on the net, that I have found.
Sober Recovery being one of the oldest is really good. SR has lots of members which insures, literally, that when someone posts here for the first time, it will be only minutes before they have a response. This is part of what makes SR great.
SR also has different forums for different needs.
It is an excellent all around recovery site.
Yes I have been a member for some time now, and in actuality I had joined earlier, but something happened to my original membership (I couldn't remember what Nickname I had used and what password I had used, and which email addy I had used, how's that for forgetfulness? rofl) and I rejoined in early April of '04.
I use SR and give responses now and then. I use several other recovery sites also. It is a great substitute when one cannot make a F2F MEETING. I still believe that face to face is the best. One can 'read' the anothers expression and body language, there is almost instant 'gratification' that someone else does understand and has been where you are.
However, that being said, there are also 'shut ins', health issues, and other things that may keep a person from f2f, and that is when SR and sites like it become so important.
My biggest concern has been and still is, that others may be 'selling themselves short' by ONLY using on line recovery.
Other than that, yep SR is one of the better recovery sites on line.

Love and hugs,
A place to find strength, hope, encouragement,
To learn, to gain a better understanding,
To appreciate our differences and how we are all the same,
To vent, to laugh,
To not feel so alone.
SR has helped me understand my own spiritual nature, the AA step work, the importance of helping one another. When I feel like I am on shaky ground, SR is here to pass the time, to get through another day.
I like this place !

SR is like having a best friend on speed dial, always there to talk or listen, and they always "get me" no matter what my mood may be or how skewed my thinking, some one, some where, in what ever time zone of SR that their in they always "get me". And I'm very grateful to be a member.

I love this site so much. It saved my life. The fact that I was able to get 24/7 help, information and inspiration in my first few days of being sober is what gave me strength till the fog lifted. It helped me find my courage to go back out into the world with a new outllook.
Sober now for 12 days. Thank you SR from the bottom of my heart. I am soooo Grateful.
God Bless this site.
