New Here
Was here about 6 months ago and was able stay sober for about 2 weeks, then figured I was cured and could control myself - WRONG.
I've been drink 2 to 5 bottles of wine a day for about 4 years and when I slipped back then I started to add a bottle of vodka as well.
Needless to say this is still day 1 and I feel like **** -- throwing up all day long, bile coming up, pain, freezing cold one minute, then sweating the next and I had to have my kids hold my cup of water with a straw in it because I was shaking so bad. Now it's the middle of the night and I can sleep, tried to lay there with eyes opn, but was hallucinating so figured I'd wake up and do something proactive for my detox. I just hope I can keep some food in me tomorrow and take my kids to school since I've to wasted to take them for the last week.
I remember last time by Day 3, I was feeling great -- but I drinking A LOT less. Just hope I don't have to call 911 for anything,
Has anyone out there who didn't use a dr. end up having to call 911?
Thanks for having this site and forum.

I did that once when the withdrawal was so awful I thought I would did. I'm glad I did, except for the bill I got later, but the hospital personnel weren't all as supportive as I would have liked. One nurse in particular was rather hostile. But I did calm down after they gave me a shot of something.
That was during one of my failed attempts to stay sober. I've finally done it tho, and now have 25 days sober, so I guess my failed attempts were practice.
Having medical supervision when detoxing is a good idea. A lot can go wrong.

No, I did not have medical assistance because
I had no clue how dangerous I was being.
My friend john stayed with me and he had experience with de toxing.
I was really ill and should have not taken the risk.
I did have a convulsion and was having hallucinations
What scared me the most was my irregular heart beats.
Over in Alcoholism..the top sticky post has info and
some of our personal experiences on withdrawal.

Hi Sivi - welcome back -
Please tell me you're seeing a doc and I missed that part.
I did the at home detox and it sucked big red ones.
I'm still paying for it.
Please stay in touch!

Glad you are here SiviBella. I'm a little worried about you detoxing without medical help. Especially if you're alone - I think it can be dangerous. I am rooting for you. Let us know how you're doing.
p.s. Why are some people welcoming 2 of you? I'm confused. I mean, if there are 2 of you, more power to you but.... (?)

re; detox
:praying:One of the unfortunate facts about alcoholism recovery is the first three days is critical. If a person is as bad as I was, it is very dangerous and should be monitered by someone who is familar with what can happen and won't hesitate to call for help. I went to a medical alcoholism treatment center.
