Having fun without alcohol
I feel really good about going back to school and being able to focus without drinking. I remember seeing others succeed while I was drinking and thinking "there has to be a better way". Drinking makes up a whole part of the college life but I realize that it is so limited. There's tons of stuff to do in this world besides drink. I can have fun without alcohol and actually remember what I was doing and not make a total jerk of myself in public.
Good to here. I am slowly learning how to do this. What do you do for good "clean" fun.
i am getting back into Mountain biking, something i haven't done in a long time. A little out of shape for some reason.

Hey Hope,
Back when I was drinking and trying to go to school my transcript read like the Far Side. What a hoot! D's and F's, withdrawns and incompletes - yow. Now I'm sober and in the same time it took me to compile a 2.1 towards my BA I've completed my bachelor's, gotten a masters and am working on my doctorate with a 3.9 GPA. Yeah, maybe I'm bragging a bit, but what I want to say is that like Best - you will realize what awesome potential you have now that you are sober. Keep going!

Humility is one thing...being proud of our accomplishments through sobriety is another!
I started taking college courses while I was still drinking...and was majoring more in Student Pub. After two semesters, I dropped out before they had a chance to suspend me!
It took six years sober through AA before I got up the courage to go back to school. And, then it took six years to earn a two-year Associate's Degree...all while taking a couple of courses a semester and working two jobs (also making AA meetings)...the 3.93gpa was well-earned, and no small accomplishment.
One of the proudest days of my life was to receive my diploma with my Mom, Daughter, and Grand Daughter in the audience. I may have been a late bloomer, but when I bloomed, I really blossomed...you can do whatever you set your sights on, as long as the goals are realistic!

WOW, these posts have really inspired me today!
I start school next week and I'm so nervous and excited all at the same time. I am so used to making bad grades when drinking that I don't know my potential.
I fear failure but I think that if I take it day by day, test by test and work my hardest, then I won't be disappointed in myself.

Hi Hope4life, I am so glad to hear you are
going back because I thought you really
wanted to.
I went back 4 years ago and got my Associates
in arts with honors, I couldn't believe it, because I flucked
out 25 years ago.
Any way, if you would like, or find you need any help
don't hesitate to PM me, OK...
