It's apparent to me that all of 15 years of my life spent in a drunken, anesthetised haze has left me slightly shortchanged in a few departments.

I have developed many, many skills in those 15 drunken years, loads of them I am very proud of but some of them I am not very proud of at all.

I have been at the top of the pile and at the bottom of the pile, and believe it or not it is actually possible to exist in both piles at once.

(Can't believe I've use my three allotted smileys already *rolls eyes*)

As my brain chemistry tries to adjust to 'normality' it is becoming very clear that I am just starting out as a person, as a real human being!!!

There is so much work to be done, as I am just learning how to be a person every day sober!!!

I like this new me, I like me very much but I'm worried about the trouble trying to get other people to like me now as well because I've been drunk so much of the damn time - that person is gone now, or at least fading away as the sober me materialises - sounds crazy but it's absolutely true!!!

Anybody else feel like that?

Rings true for me. At my evaluation appt on Monday, one of the questions the doc asked me was "What are your hobbies, things you enjoy doing?" ...I just kind of stared at her blankly. I realized I pretty much stopped developing after high school, I never got around to finding something I enjoy doing! I'm looking forward to that.
