I Hate Drinking

It isn't the drinking you hate, it's the person you become/things you do under the influence that you hate. How do you change all that? Stop drinking...really not that difficult. OK, once you've stopped, how do you stay stopped? What worked for me (and so many others)...lots of AA meetings and working the Steps (program of recovery).

It took me a while to feel 'connected' with my group. It took me showing up drunk with my wrists stitched up, and then people reached out. So yeah I get what you mean. I don't think you have to as far as I did, but generally people want to help. As far as your ex I too was in a terrible relationship and it made me bitter and distrustful, but I'm with a great girl now and I don't veiw the world so cynically. I hope things get better for you I really do.
