Changing My Clean Date
Changing My Clean Date
Hello to everyone. I just wanted to check in and let everyone know that I am doing well. I think the last time I posted I could not even put 3 days together, but today I have 25 days and I am feeling much more focused on my recovery and my program. I am doing all the things I need too for myself as directed by my sponsor and others in the fellowship( not my own head) and it is working very well for me. Thank you again for being here, I love this place!!!

Nice going, Kerry! I, too, found that following the directions given to me by the Program and my sponsor were the only way I could begin to build some time.
Reading your post reminds me, though, that I have to keep putting my recovery first and continue to follow the way of life outlined by the Program. Coming up on 3 years, I'm finding it way too easy to let work, family and other considerations come first. And I'm finding that that doesn't work for me today, just like it didn't work for me in the beginning.

Kerry 25 days is awesome, following directions was the key for me as well, in reality it was the beginning of me "Turning it over", my way had not worked for years, following the suggestions given to me by others who were clean and sober led me to the ability to offer my experience strength and hope to others.
Zanthos you bring out something I hear about all the time, complacency..... resting on our laurels and letting other things try and become more important then our being clean and sober.
My wife and kids at times ask me to cut back on meetings or other AA stuff and as harsh as it may sound, I have to politely remind them of where I was 14 months ago! I simply tell them I have to keep my sobriety #1 to where I can be there for them today. I ask them if I would still be around if I had not quit drinking.
When we make something other then our sobriety #1 in our lifes is when we are gambling on losing it all.
