the "permanent shakes"
hey all. i've been sober for some time now but have been suffering from as yet unknown medical condition. one of the old timers at my AA meeting has said he thought it might be "the permanent shakes" as he called it. anybody know what the actual name of the diesase is that he is talking about. he mentioned it because he had a sponsee back in the day who said that what was bothering him. if you know anything please post here.
hey i experience shaking (not immense but still shaking nonetheless) and i have 20+ months sober. i am not a doctor and out of pure speculation think it might be nerve damage from extensive drug abuse (perhaps benzos/ecstasy). i also have been seeing little silver slivers appear in the sky for many years now....i recently shared this with a friend who has nearly 7 years of sobriety who said he see's the same thing. he thought it was from acid abuse. it rarely happens but still does occasionally. drugs and alcohol affect our body and minds in a variety of ways. i should take my own advice and see a doctor. at any rate, thank God I'm sober!
You should see a doctor for sure. There could be so many reasons for it.
When my mother first got sober, she had what the doctors called "Parkinson's-Like Symptoms". She's been sober for 5 years and her symptoms have gotten better, not 100% but better.
Please see your doctor and keep us posted.

Don't self-medicate, don't self-diagnose...get a good physical check-up pronto! It may be "nothing"...then again, it may be "something"...at any rate, no sense in speculating, when you can find out for sure (either way) and set your mind (and ours) at ease. Good luck!
