Not exactly the same, but in the same genus corvidae or Corvus.

The term "eating crow" has a sort of humorous origin.

geyah ... it's just a colloquialism ... that I can't spell...LOL
it comes from the humbling of the family hunter who couldnt kill anything to eat better than a carrion feeder. Birds who eat carrion - are usually considered inedible by almost all tribal peoples. Almost no tribal culture, will eat carrion feeders. If they can at all help it.
crow tastes terrible. (is the legend)
but you'll eat it if you get hungry enough.
Or if you're unfortunate to be married to a terrible hunter.
crows, ravens magpies ... are all corovids.
we got 'em al here in Montana. I LOVE the magpies.
Ravens ... are HUGE.

Okay..Barb..
When i used to arrive at work very early in the morning (a rural area)...
A bird would wolf whistle at me...I thought it was the janitor flirting but
it happened when he was not there..a black bird was sitting in the tree.
?? Can they learn to wolf whistle?
Love,
IO

my dad had a crow when he was a kid. I have ALWAYS wanted a raven or a magpie.
and yes, they can talk ... if taught. There's a bar here in MT called 'talking bird bar' and it had, for years and years, a talking crow as it's main attraction.

Now it's *BARB'S* APOLOGY - Midas - Your pardon for the hijack.
btw - they stuffed the bird and nailed it to the perch when it died in that bar.
somehow - just not the same, I'm told.
