I just started to detox a few days ago and have been experiencing exactly what you stated. I personally feel as if I'm in a constant dream and actually feel more real actually dreaming than when awake. However my cloudiness started on my last blackout drunk session the very next day I felt like this and knew it was time to stop. Ive had several past episodes attempting to quit for the past 10 months or so, with some slips which made the dreamy feeling worse each time. This last one was so bad I found myself in a ball on the floor crying repeating the words please please please let this pass. I too need to make an appointment with a doctor and admit I have a problem. This thread has given me hope that I'm not alone and sounds like some folks get cured from this feeling, I hope I'm one of them. Thanks!!!

Hi Jason - welcome

getting checked out is a good idea.

For what it's worth I'm still sober and my mental faculties are as good as ever now

I'm on day 9 today and have been experiencing the same thing.

From past experience of being sober for several months, it gets better over time and eventually passes.

Hi Blake --

Just to note that it's been over 4 years since anyone posted on this thread, so you're unlikely to get a direct response.

Yep, the brain fog can be like that

The thing is, it's so different for everyone. Some people don't get it at all, while for others (me, for example) it lasts for years. There's no timetable. You can ask, but the answers you'll get will be all over the place.

There's no magical cure -- the best you can do is make sure you're living healthy, exercise your brain to create workarounds for the foggy parts, and most of all, STAY SOBER!
