For it isn’t your friend or parents or wife,
Whose judgment upon you must pass,
The person whose verdict counts most in your life,
Is the one staring back from the glass.

Some people might think you’re a straight-shootin’ chum
And think you’re a wonderful guy.
But the man in the glass says you’re only a bum
If you can’t look him straight in the eye.

He’s the fellow to please-never mind all the rest,
For he’s with you clear up to the end;
And you’ve passed your most difficult test
If the one in the glass is your friend.

You may fool the world down the pathway of years
And get pats on the back as you pass,
But your final reward will be heartache and tears
If you’ve lied to the man in the glass.

a big Dont Quit shout'n out...
I can't believe I read this after just posting to Hope4lifes thread, what

a reality that is. Heres what I just posted.

I was challenged Easter weekend when my lover went away.

Thats the times I always looked farward to drinking as much as I wanted,

and not worry about being caught.

I kept saying no, I can't, I have over 4 months, I don't want to start over.

I had all the reasons in the world to just say no, I can't. The more I said

I can't the more I wanted it. So, I said sure I can, but lets look at the what

will happen if I do. I can drink, I can make that choice, but is it what I really want. If I go get the wine and have that first glass I will feel that wonderful
glow, that beautifull uphorium for the first 1, 2, 3, maybe even the 4th.
Then what, I will feel guilty, I will have to start over, and I will be extremely mad at my self, and for what? That 10 or 15 minute of bliss that will deteriate
into self loathing, quilt and ashamed feeling that I have been working on so much.

Nah, I can, but I won't, it wouldn't be worth it.

I don't exactly know how to explain the psychological difference of me telling myself I could vs I can't, but it worked. Moreover after the 3 days went by and I stayed sober I had just a little more love fo myself, a little more strenght and certainly a stronger resolve.

I don't know if this would work for you, but I just thought I would share it any way.

Not quitting tody friends, hope3

Don't Quit While You're Ahead...

Once I bet my last ten pence - and won
Twice as rich then, friends said, "Call it done!"
"How sad", I said.
"So that's your wildest dream, eh, then...
Twenty pence instead of ten?"
I doubled up my bet again!

In life you start the same as when you're done:
If you lose, you're just where you've begun -
If you've won, don't quit while you're ahead,
Just press your blessed luck instead!

Don't try to think what move might be best;
Use the heart that beats within your breast.
Never rest! Don't quit while you're ahead.
Sing out:

"There's more in store for me!"
I see my dream ship fin'lly comin' in
Like a steam ship anch'rin in to win!
Lift your chin! Remember what I said
Don't quit while you're ahead, let go!
I know there must be love that's yet to be
Only just three winks away from me
Hopefully...
Don't quit while you're ahead!
Don't worry how you tread! Who cares?
And there's the chance! One pipe dream
that is mine
A romance just ripe on the vine
Don't resign!
Neville, Crisparkle, Rosa, Helena, Alice & Beatrice:
No victor ever fled!
Don't quite you're ahead to stay!
Ta-ray- ta-rah!
Boom!
Bang it, bash it, Hoo-ray-ha-rah!
Boom!
Clang it, clash it, oo-la-dee-dah!
Don't quite while you're ahead!
Don't say "I'm off to bed, farewell!"
Full well I know!
Don't let the moment go to waste
Not with the vic'try close enough to taste!
Heed the call with all due haste!
For God's own sake!
So raise the stake, you struck a lucky vein!
Never break through any lucky chain!
The refrain: "Don't quit while you're ahead,"
As eas'ly done as said, you'll see:
Ta-rah-ta-ree!
Boom!
Bang it, bash it, oo, glory be!
Boom!
Clang it, clash it, oo-lah-dee-dee!
Don't quit while you're ahead
Sing out, "There's more in store for me!"

Dont Quit!!!

Not quitting Just For Today, even if it's a rainy Sunday.

What's neat is that yesterday as I was walking out of the grocery store a person from a meeting that I went to years before recognized me. So I walked over to his car and we talked for a little bit. We then went off on our ways. He was glad to see that I have made much progress since my last drink. I'll have to go into my old meeting materials and find his number.

Yours in recovery, Mark B.

Well....I have my recovery armour on today...
My shield , helment, sword in hand to fight
off any sudden urges and temptations that
head my way.

Beginning my day with asking my HP to ...

PLEASE HELP ME STAY SOBER TODAY

Go thru the steps ...first 3 on a daily bases...

ADMITTING, ACCEPTING and BELIEVING

I will make a noon meeting today hoping
to hear what I need to hear ..taking what
I want and leaving the rest.

I will also do some service work by bringing
something I baked yesterday.....This I have
found in early recovery allowed me to get
to the meeting early....and stay afterwards....

Its a chance for me to get to know others
in recovery as they get to know me....which
sometimes is hard to do.

My day is about to begin and what a
wonderful blessed day to be sober.

At the end of my day as what was taught
to me....to say....

THANK YOU FOR KEEPING ME SOBER TODAY.

Hi Im Sharon An Im an Alcoholic.

By the Grace of my HP and people
like you here in SR I havent found
it necessary to take a drink of
alcohol since 8-11-90.

For that and you I am truely grateful.

Thanks for letting me share here.
