90 days

Today was my 90th day of being sober and it feels great. Longest time in many years and i wanted to thank everyone on this site. The stories of success are truly inspiring and my heart goes out to those in pain. I read the posts every day and it really helps me.

I have heard about the various times which seem important in early sobriety (ie 30 days, 90 days etc). Does anyone know the significance of 90 days (besides the obvious!!!)? I had heard that it takes at least 90 days for behavioral changes to take effect and was wondering if anyone else had heard that.

God bless to everyone.

Yes...I have heard that also.
That is where the 90 meetings
in 90 days comes in.
Treatment centers espouse that theory.

You also might find this of interest

Well done on your progress!

No real meaning to it that I know of. I have heard that because 30, 60, 90, etc. represent certain milestones, some alcoholics get a little nervous in the days right before. Generally because they're anxious to get the chip that goes along with the milestone. They start to say to themselves, "Can I make it till then?" I'd say you've got nothing to worry about. I've seen behavioral changes in people much sooner than that, then I've also seen it take much longer than 90 days.

Congratulations, most true alcoholics don't make it that long. Just keep doing what you've been doing for the last 90 days and before you know it, you'll have a year.
