TOPIC: Do You Listen To Your Gut Feelings? What About Committee Meetings In Ur Head?
Hi Im Sharon and Im an Alcoholic.
By the Grace of my HP and people
like you here in SR I havent had a
drink of alcohol since 8-11-90. For
that im truely grateful.
So do you ever listen to your gut?
Your gut instincts or feelings
trying to tell u what to do? You
know when you have to make a
decision on something and you
don't know whether to do it or
not.
I don't know who told me this
or if it was something i heard often
as a child or growing up, but, if
I listen to my gut instincts or
feelings then they wont steer
me wrong.
JUST GO WITH UR INSTICTS/FEELINGS
Ever heard that phrase before?
Just a few minutes ago i was out
and about shopping and on my way
home i had made a decision to take
another route home so i could make
one more stop....well...i got close to
my destination and could have turned
in or go straight and head home....
Well my intentions were to make that
last stop, but when i got there my gut
was telling me to just go home. Why
fight the crowd one more time when
u know u need to go pee...lol So i headed
home...yeah....! Whew..I feel so much
better now that i came home to pee....lol
Now for those committee meetings...
Those little annoying voices in ur head.
Arguing with u back and forth,,,,should
i or shouldnt i....what to do?
I remember at times those voices
would be soooo loud....MAKE THEM
STOP ID SAY.... : ) oK, i know
how to fix that right quick....
CRANK UP MY MUSIC AS LOUD AS i
CAN ...to drown out the noise...lol
Today....i have to decide to listen
or tune them out...i dont want to tune
out everything because it could be my HP
trying to tell me something.... So its a
decision u have to weigh with urself.
My COMMITTEE MEETINGS today are:
Those little birds that line up on the
telephone wires above u. When i stop
at a light or im riding and not driving i
just look up and where i see 2 or more
birds gathered together,,,then thats my
committee meeting or if theres many many
birds ..then its a CONVENTION. : )
GOTTA LOVE IT... : )
Would u like to share your thoughts
about listening to ur gut feelings or
those nagging committee meetings
filling ur head and thoughts?
Thanks for letting me share.

The Busload in my Brain
"you knowhow people say they have a committee in their head? With most of us its just a couple of voices, arguing periodically for control. With me, i've got a busload of defects, driving clown-style, willy-nilly down the road of life! All of them: pride, impatience, arrogance, apathy, prejudice, deceit, fear, self-centeredness, self-righteousness, self-loathing, possessivness, close-mindedness, hatred, control, egotism, rage, lust, paranoia, and insecurity, just to name a few. Each of them constantly clamoring to be in the drivers seat! It's a constant struggle, full of chaos. With me screaming every now and then, "I'll turn this bus right around!" In a seat by itself sits addiction. And while all of the others scream and carry on, addiction sits quietly, patiently, because he knows that as soon as any of theese others win a temporary victory, he'll be the one realy driving!"

I tend to listen to my gut but try to stay out of my head as much as possible. I trust my gut to tell me the right thing but when I start to wonder around it my head all alone, it leads to no good, awfulizing, projecting, future tripping, etc....

I have to learn to use both my gut feelings and my head more. (That's where I'm coming from)
Sometimes a committee meeting in my head can be a good thing - effectively conducted.
"Everyone's" contributions gets "put on record" and "no-one" gets shouted down. "Everyone" can see a bad suggestion for what it is. All the parts of my makeup gain in self-acceptance and need to defend themselves by doggedly hanging on to bad ideas, less and less frequently.
I - the parts of I - need to share with other human beings to gain in objectivity but it can take decades to find sufficient really, really safe ones. Meantime I am more willing to take a risk in a good cause.
