doing an intervention
doing an intervention
Hi,
I'm a wife of an alcholic who is not interested in seeking recovery and he is in late stages.
Even this am I saw him at 5:18am swigging from his vodka bottle.
anyway, we are doing a professional intervention on my AH tomorrow morning.
This plan has been in place for a few weeks and we are going through a rehersal tonight.
With this process having to be so finely tuned... have any of you been through such an event and how successful have you been.
I love this man to no end... the disease I HATE so this is our last attempt for him to get help.
I'm nervous, have the guilities from doing all of this behind his back and am aprenhesive after all the $$$ and time it wont work.
Thanks for reading,
Missy xo

Guilt means you have done something wrong. I don't think it is wrong to reach out and try to help him. It sounds like drastic measures need to be taken. He is the only one who can help himself. If he doesn't go for help with the intervention, you must be prepared to take care of yourself. I hope you will look to the Family and Friends Forums on this site. They are very helpful in coping with loved ones who are alcoholics and addicts. I wish you the best. I hope the intervention works.
