Mags how's Alfie's training going? It pays in the long term to be consistent with training and boundaries.
Off for more golf today and taking our favourite grandson with us... ok, our only grandchild!

Congratulations FBL 14 1/2 years is pretty awesome
Toots, Alfie’s training is doing ‘ok’. Three steps forward then one back unfortunately. Took him with us to visit my step mum which I was worried about but there was no need. He was an Angel with her. I was thankful as he can be playful.
Then went on to my friend’s house whose grandkids wanted to meet Alfie. I was worried because he can get robust but he was great with the kids. They all loved him too. Thinking about it his breeder had 5 children so the first three months of his life he was round young people.
But still a long way to go even though he learns pretty quick.

SOOOO freakin grateful to be a part of this group!!!! Here here on that!
I do think long term recovery brings both humility, wisdom, giving spirit - among other things. Or it just may be my little slice of it here on SR
But seriously - you all have been a life line for me, especially this year for which I’m grateful!

I imagine your dedication to taking and keeping the majority of your weight off thru all of this will be one of the best steps you can to help with keeping you in good health for a while

I’m so grateful for these sober years! I doubt I’d still be here today if I hadn’t gotten so much help. SR has been the mainstay of my ongoing recovery. I think that stopping drinking is just the first (though critical) step. Learning to roll with what life hands us and make the best of it takes effort and maturity. I believe that we gain strength as we overcome life’s challenges head on. Do I sometimes wish life were easier? Sure! But I think back to something I thought of many years ago when dealing with a different challenge: I am who I am because of what I’ve been through, not in spite of it.

Getting ready to hit the road for my 6 hour drive to Minnesota. Will spend some time with Mom this afternoon, then will spend the evening with my brother's family. Looks like decent driving weather, no snow in the forecast!
