I got some very sad news yesterday from my cousin. She called to let me know my Uncle (55+ years sober and like a 2nd father to me) doesn't have much longer to live. He was admitted into hospital on Jan 28th with breathing difficulties which they thought might be COPD and while they were running tests one of his kidneys failed. Turns out he is full of cancer inside with no hope for any treatment to do any good and have given him 2 weeks to a month to live. My cousin is seeing what she can do to get me in to see him with the Covid restrictions being what they are up here. With any luck at all I'll drive over tomorrow to visit with him a bit before he's gone...

Thank you Suze , he's been a guest speaker at many, many AA Roundups and has touched the lives of so many people. He offered me a job way back when I didn't know what I wanted to be when I finished school and is the reason I'm in the plumbing and heating trade still today. I lived with them for almost 2 years early in my apprenticeship and he was instrumental in my getting and staying sober...

My test results came in and she said everything was perfect, except for my bad cholesterol. It's bad. My good cholesterol is 110 and I have no clue how I maintain that (I once had a reading of 126!) so, I'm back on my daily bowl of breakfast oatmeal and salad for lunch, which fortunately I love. She's giving me 3 months to work on lowering it and then she'll test again. I had a bad experience with lipitor (ugh, I sound like such a whiner) and really don't want to go on that. I'm determined!

I got all my files decluttered and have 2 big bags of documents to shred. Today, cleaning and food prep as I'll be more likely to eat properly if it's all ready to go. I was going to make some vegetarian chili, but I usually eat it with buttery cornbread or sour cream and cheese. Must change my habits!

Congratulations to everyone for everyone making it another 24 hours and encouragement to those who are struggling. Don't give up!

Praying for 24 sober hours at 10:02 AM EST
