This evening I told my daughter that I am opposed to her continued relationship with her boyfriend when/if he is released and that sometimes a parent has to draw a line in the interest of their future.
The things she then said to me I wish I could unhear. I look around at this lovely home and wonder how it became so empty. I can't take it. But then again I don't recall being given a choice in the matter.
I'm going to have to get my mind in a better place. Perhaps tomorrow I'll think of something.

Oh Mark, I am so sorry love.
Teenage girls can inflict a lot of pain ~ I know, I was one.
But I truly believe you have done the right thing, the very best thing for her in fact.
You are a wonderful father, and I promise you she will know this again soon.
Huge hugs. ♥

Truth is I don't know that I can actually stop her. Yet I can't look back on this and have been complacent and therefore by default encourage what I consider to be a dangerous relationship.
Feeling about 100 years old at the moment so headed to bed. I've heard that there's a new variety of lavender that withstands heat/humidity. I shall do a bit of research.
Thank you all for your words. It was nice to here something kind.
Good night friends.

Oh, Mark, I am so sorry.
Parenting is the most difficult job we will ever have.
You are doing the right thing; I am 100% certain that one day your daughter will see that.
Sending you love and wishing you a peaceful night's sleep.

Good morning gang and happy Friday.
Thanks Leigh, I'm counting on it!
I've got a busy day ahead and that's best I think.
Wishing each of you a pleasant weekend.

Hi gang,
An early morning gym time and an afternoon run are in the books with outside chores in between. Today was fairly sunny providing a break from the cycle of severe weather we've been having. Several twisters in the region have caused damage with a chance of more tomorrow. For now though a twilight cup of tea on the patio while listening to the chorus of spring peepers accompanied by a mocking bird singing its little heart out. My kind of thing for sure.
