24-Hour Recovery Connections ... Part 143
Holy mackerels, what a cake Strat!
Extra prayers coming!!!
I'm also glad to see you working through things. However, be mindful of the company you keep. Sometimes people may try to sabotage your sobriety to get their drinking buddy back. Keep it going!
Neo ,
I totally agree about who we called 'our friends' when we were active in our addiction. Hey, my BEST friend in the world, my husband, stopped hanging with me because I was still using. And, I get it now ...he put himself and his recovery first.
A wonderful benefit for me being active in my recovery via the 12 Step Rooms ....real friendships have formed. There are sober parties, game nights, movies, bbq's/picnics, out to lunch etc etc . I isolated in my LUCY kitchen at the end. I didn't even need those people I drank with, who I called friend. Just me, Lucy and a sh*tload of wine and anything else I had handy.
So, the surprise benefit of quitting drinking was making new friends, ones who I have FUN, laugh, cry and just love to pieces. You can quit drinking and be miserable, focusing on what you're missing. OR you can go about it a whole other way. One thing I know, I had to be willing and to find my HP again.
