Thanks for that cake strat! Delicious for sure. And you're right, in retrospect it'll be yet a blip.

Glad it's all gone Neo.

Another thing that's for sure is the the rock solid support around here. Good stuff.

A question, please, dear friends. When did the fatigue get better for you? I know rest is what my body seems to want but I'm going to bed at crazy early hours. Early evening! I just run out of energy at work around 2 pm, struggle to finish the day, come home, eat a bit, then try to stay awake till 8. I got a short walk in earlier today at work, then a very short one later but I feel like I've been hit by a bus.

Thank you 24 hour friends

Hello love.

I was the same way....both times. I seemed to be so tired, but it's OK.
Your body is trying to find homoeostasis, and sleep is healing.

It all started to get easier for me at around 1 month.

If you are worried, you might want to see your GP just to make sure your vitamin and mineral levels are all high enough. But really, it gets better, and even though we are all different, I think it will get better soon.

The true fatigue lasted, for me, maybe a month or so; it was followed, though, by lethargy which lasted a good six months before it slowly began to lift. Everyone is different; it doesn't take everyone that long.

Your body is recovering, dear RBJ, and healing; those processes need energy - a lot of energy; my feeling is that our bodies deliberately slow us down in order to heal and recover. Listen to your body; it knows what it is doing. Rest; eat well; get plenty of fresh air; drink plenty of water - heal and recover; it's part of the miracle, part of the magic.

Thank you, Venus. I think that's my fear is that I've done some kind of major damage, but if it's normal for us I guess I should just go with it. Thank you dear friend.

Just keep looking after yourself, as Leigh said. One day at a time.

Thank you Leigh. It helps a lot to think of it that way; that my body knows what it's doing. My mind is the trickster. It's a very good thing I got plenty of comfy pajamas and a new bed this year---they're being lived in.

Day 20
Your body is telling you just what it needs. True rest. It was being fueled by sugar. It is now trying to heal. Diet is crucial now, too. Plus plenty of pure water. Don't underestimate this disease. Your body has been ailing from the drinking for probably a long time. It is screaming for nutrients. As it starts being fed right it will start to thank you by giving you some of that energy back. Try not and worry too much. Stress is tiring also. We are never healed of alcoholism but we do heal. Let the healing start.

Neo-so glad it's gone. Keep remembering tomorrow is a new day.

RBJ-it also took me a month until I felt normal again. As others have mentioned, the body is just repairing itself.

Thank you all so much for your support and understanding. I felt that I needed to be honest. I knew I was in danger for awhile. Some of it has been that I've felt lost for awhile since after my first year of sobriety. There has been this sense of failure for the past several months. The failure has nothing to do with sobriety, but with other things that were really important to me. It's just been hard. I should have communicated, but didn't. However, with the relapse, I've learned that there is nothing there in that alcohol induced haze that is worth it. Sober life is much better.
