Today, we are covering vulnerable White-lipped Peccary (Tayassu pecari). This animal can be found in Central and South America, mostly within rainforests. Several interesting facts about this species include that they have a scent gland on their backs, they “bark” and show off their teeth to avoid conflict, and that their diet mostly consists of fruit, but it can include nuts, vegetation, and small amounts of animal matter. Threats causing a population decline for this species include: habitat loss, illegal hunting, competition with livestock, and epidemics
