Darn, I didn't check in at my usual time today, was too busy posting away in August 2014 class. So signing in now, 16 hours late, but that's 16 hours of sobriety, sleep soon will get me to my 24.

Mythical, magical, and divine birds. One bird detail I didn’t mention last night was that when Procne and Tereus were married, not only did the Furies make the marriage bed, but a screech owl perched above it. To hear the kind of vaguely eerie sounds that would have serenaded Procne & Tereus on their wedding night, try this link: Eastern Screech-Owl, Sounds, All About Birds - Cornell Lab of Ornithology. Some of those calls and trills would sound pretty creepy if you were honeymooning on a moonlit evening.
You can also click on the “Video” tab on that page to watch a 2 minute video on screech owls, which is quiet and pretty and peaceful. The narrator on the video emphasizes their near-perfect camouflage in the forest.
So, do you think screech owls are evil omens? Or minor magicians? Or maybe just a little dreamy.? Edward Lear captured the owl as a poet and a dreamer when he wrote in “The Owl and The Pussycat”:
Well…. Lear’s Owl sang all about his love for the Pussycat, and how beautiful she was. But even though Pussycat thought the Owl was an elegant fowl, I'm not allowed to quote him here, because SR bleeps him! (He calls her, repeatedly, Pussycat without the cat part. Apparently a no-no.)

Had a tough day but my Class of August '14 mates lifted me up and helped me to stay sober. Grateful for SR and the power of "us". I think it is grtgrandpa who has posted "I drank. We got sober." Powerful.
Grateful to be sober tonight...I'll have another 24.

Courage I have the cats next to me, so I'm not going to turn on the volume to the screech owl right now. But, thank you I will later.
Ok, Roosevelt Documentary fans......jeez, FDR and his lady friends! Having 'ol Lucy come to the White House under an assumed name, while Eleanor was away.
A really nice Big Book Study meeting this morning. Though my Home Group has still not found a permanent location. The park is working for my weekday meetings.
Time to check I here for the next 24 hours of my recovery, thanks to my HP & AA.
